Meet Kylee – Our New Delightful Team Member

I am the newest member of the Delightful Team and, as a Digital Marketing Specialist, I will be working with clients providing strategic and tactical support for their digital marketing and social media campaigns.

I’m on the left with Ashley Seffernick at a Janes of Digital event last week

A graduate of the University of Washington with a double-major of Political Science and Eastern European Language, Literature, and Culture, I have spent the last few years working both freelance and at a tech staffing firm here in Seattle working in digital marketing, with a focus on social media.

Yes, I am a ‘millennial’ and while online this sometimes seems to be a divisive thing these days, I own it.

I like to say that I have fully embraced growing up alongside the internet. Modern day online life has grown and changed as I was growing and changing. From my early days in elementary school in West Seattle at Arbor Heights Elementary (the first elementary school to have a website) in our computer lab to writing for my high school’s online newspaper, I’ve been among the youngest of the groups exploring these new online worlds for most of my life.

Growing up like this has given me the joy of feeling ‘at-home’ in the digital space from the get-go. I’m proud to have made a career for myself in this modern marketing space and I am thrilled to continue my work here at Delightful.

What really attracted me to Delightful Communications was the emphasis on bringing positivity and delight as part of their company culture, and the work we do for clients. I found my personal passion for positivity not only reflected in the name but in the mission statement as well.

To help brands create delightful experiences that help their message and purpose be more discoverable, shareable and memorable through modern marketing, digital PR and by putting people – customers and employees – at the heart of each and everything that they do.

The mission statement spoke to me the first time I read it. It offers a nod to positivity, as well as an emphasis on people, not just pixels. I take pride in injecting conscious positivity into the online world, whether it be posting positive quotes and inspirational messages or posting a meme or two to make someone laugh. These days I feel that a lot of what we see on the internet is negative or controversial. In a small effort to do my part to balance out what my community sees online, I try to create at least one distinct ‘positive’ post per day.

I’ve made positivity part of my own personal brand because I believe that my positivity not only benefits me but those around me as well. In that vein, here are 10 of my favorite inspirational quotes that keep my positivity on track.

  1. “F.E.A.R. has two meanings – Forget everything and run or face everything and rise. The choice is yours.”
  2. “Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destination”
  3. “A diamond is a chunk of coal that did well under pressure” – Henry Kissinger
  4. “When something goes wrong in your life just yell, ‘plot twist’ and move on”
  5. “If the plan doesn’t work change the plan but never the goal”
  6. “The comeback is always stronger than the setback”
  7. “Focus on where you want to go not on what you fear”
  8. “Be a flamingo in a flock of pigeons”
  9. “One day or day one. You decide”
  10. “To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people just exist” – Oscar Wilde
